Our Physiotherapists carry out complete assessments and formulate individualized programs that take into account the child's strengths and needs.
The Physiotherapist works with children and their families to promote physical independence.
Physiotherapy assessment includes the child's balance, and coordination; equipment needs; the child's physical positioning throughout the day; joint range of movement; and muscle strength.
Occupational Therapists are available to assess and treat children with learning disorders and developmental delay. Occupational Therapists help the child and his/her family nurture and develop independence in all areas of daily living.
In consultation with the family, our Occupational Therapists help identify goals and strategies to meet each child's own individual needs - within their everyday life at home, at school and within the community.
The ability to communicate is essential in every aspect of life... Speech & Language disorders can affect the way people understand and the way they talk. Speech Therapists can assess, diagnose and provide the best therapy program for those who may have:

Speech-Language Therapy Department
Speech-Language Therapy is specialized healthcare field that deals with the study and treatment of disorders related to speech, language, voice and eating/drinking. Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) or Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) also called Speech Therapists, are specialists who address people difficulties related to speech, language, voice, eating/drinking and overall communication needs through Speech Therapy.
Communication can be verbal and/or non verbal, including speech (articulation, intonation, rate, and intensity), language (morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics), both receptive and expressive language, including reading and writing. The non-verbal communication consists of body language, facial expression, signs and gestures.
The Speech-Language Therapy at DCSN is well equipped with training materials and resources, such as toys, books, AACs, software programs and assessment kits. The Speech Therapists maintain high professional standards and are actively involved in various professional roles and activities at the Center. These involve:
Screening and assessment of students exhibiting speech and language disorders
Screening and assessment of students exhibiting difficulty in feeding and swallowing
Suggesting suitable classroom placement for the students
Developing treatment plan and individual education plan for the students
Delivering individual and group speech therapy sessions
Providing consultation to classroom teachers and parents
Establishing augmentative and alternative communication techniques and strategies for students by selecting, developing and prescribing a system for an enhanced communication skill
Conducting workshops/in-service to educate the parents, caregivers and teachers related to different areas in the field of Speech-Language Pathology

Speech-Language Therapy Department at DCSN plays an important role in functioning of the multidisciplinary team and the Speech Therapists work in close collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team (medical unit, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and head teachers).

Developmental Tests assess the child's level of functioning in all of the skill areas - identifying problematic areas, as well as areas where the child excels. These in-depth assessments can determine the nature, cause and treatment needed for learning difficulties.
Educational Assessments indicates the child's level of academic performance, as well as any other factors that may be affecting his/her achievement in school. Intelligence Tests (IQ Tests) are conducted by a professional psychologist to assess the individual's general learning aptitudes and help to identify those who should be encouraged more intensively to excel and reach for higher goals.
Individual and group counseling for children, adolescents and their families addresses issues, such as stress, hyperactivity, low attention span, ADHD, anxiety, grief, divorce, eating disorders, educational and career guidance, personality disorders, behavior problems and coping with personal transitions and crisis.
Our psychologists offer evaluation and consultation with parents and professionals involved with the child. Referrals for further assessment or treatment are also given, if necessary.
